La Città Eterna

Rome.

Many words, phrases, warriors, enchanted images, and fashion houses come to mind.

However, Rome to me is a home, a getaway, while at the same time, it's the most magical reality i've experienced in my life.

Waking up at dawn many days, and hearing the robust Italian workers outside my window in the beautiful residential neighborhood of Prati, every day seemed to be a new adventure, as I prepared my morning "caffè latte".

The days were spent with three beautiful bambini italiani, or strolling along the boundless yet finite Via Del Corso in the center. The nights were sincerely unique. Enjoying a glass of wine with true friends, and having the courage and naivety to see what the last words of our page in our joint book of Rome had for us that night.

Rainy days were particularly special. Wandering the ancient streets of Rome, turning around surprise "Vicoli", that open up into vast and stunning piazzas. Everything was truly illuminated, and everyone you passed seemed to have a story waiting pour on the cobblestone streets, along with the rain.

I will never forget one very rainy day as I was walking home, the rain without warning began to pour. I did not seem to mind, as I had a scarf on and remember pulling it over my head and starting to boost my speed to try to beat the rain.

And out of nowhere, a dapper, well dressed, quintessentially Italian man began to walk beside me and hold his umbrella over my head, and continue to walk next to me no matter what speed I would walk. No words, no look, just a simple kind gesture that I will always remember.
